Double het Lavender Albino Tristripe Hatchlings

Double het Lavender Albino Tristripe Hatchlings

Last year we hatched 0.5 double het Ultramel Tristripes - five females. This year we got 3.0 double het Lavender Albino Tristripes - all males!!! Not complaining but a single girl would have been nice this year! Luckily, they are all very pretty and we'll repeat the pairing next year - the dam is gaining weight nicely so we hope she'll be up for it. We will be keeping one back and letting the other two go - get in touch if you want to reserve one - these are the only ones available worldwide!

Fader Super Pastel Orange Ghosts and Fader POG Clutch

What a result - 2.3 SPOGs and 0.1 POG and all appear to be Faders! These are so pretty we're going to have a hard time parting with them - we will enjoy keeping them for as long as we can!

Fader Super Pastel Orange Ghost Hatched

Seems we have proven our Fader SPOG male with this awesome clutch. Not all out yet so not entirely sure what we have but certainly appears to be SPOGs and Fader SPOGs in the mix - can't wait for them to shed so I can get some great pictures up on the site! Some of these will be available for sale so let us know if you want to be added to the list!

Tristripe x Lavender Albino Clutch Laid!

Tristripe x Lavender Albino Clutch Laid!

Found the Lavender Albino female tightly wrapped around her first clutch this morning - 4 eggs and 1 slug. Not bad for a first clutch! Three have candled with excellent blood supplies, one with barely any. All four in the incubator and enjoying the balmy conditions. Dam weighs 1250g and looks in excellent condition. All digits firmly crossed for 1.2 or 0.3 ;)

Fader Super Pastel Orange Ghost

Fader Super Pastel Orange Ghost

Proud father to be "Timmy" the Fader Super Pastel Orange Ghost bred right here at Regal. This is his first year breeding and with seven eggs on the ground from the Pastel Orange Ghost female, hopefully we'll get a second good clutch from the Orange Ghost. As you can see, he's still a pretty boy at 3 years old! And to think he once weighed 16g...

Big ovulation from the Het tristripe girl. 1900g this year so hoping for a six egg clutch. Last year we lucked out and only had one hatchling from 5 eggs. It would be AWESOME to get some female visual Tristsrioe holdbacks from this clutch!!! Goat sacrifices commencing shortly ;)

Fader Super Pastel Orange Ghost x Pastel Orange Ghost Clutch Laid

Lovely clutch of seven healthy eggs from our beautiful POG and unusual fader SPOG - we are very keen to see what comes from these to see if the fader trait passes to the offspring. The clutch that produced the male SPOG were all exceptional - two POGs and two SPOGs which have kept their colours into maturity. Whatever happens, we intend to make SPOGs and POGs available. Watch this space!

Tri-Stripe x Lavender Albino Locks!!!

Tri-Stripe x Lavender Albino Locks!!!

Finally the one we've been waiting for! How good is the Lavender Tri-Stripe going to be!!! Didn't look like this girl was going to make weight this year due to a protracted fast but she has been guzzling her food and is now 1650g. With the storm blowing through UK and with her in deep shed, seemed to good an opportunity to pass up. Looks like they were made for each other! Fingers firmly crossed for a great clutch! She's also 66% het Axanthic so the potential is excellent for triple hets in the mix!

Albino het Tristripe Update

Albino het Tristripe Update

For those of you who remember the surprise pinkish Albino from a Tristripe x HC Albino pairing last season -she has been a tricky feeder and is still being assist fed but has now gained some good weight and appears to be out of the woods. As you can see, her yellow colours have strengthened and she has retained some of her pink hue. Due to the feeding, she's only had one shed so far so looking forward to what happens after her next one!

Tri-Stripe x High Contrast Albino Locks!!!

Now this is another one we just can't wait to see. The VPI line High Contrast Albino used for last years pairings which appeared to produce a visual Pink Albino is now a whopping 2700g and has locked a number of times with the Tristripe male. Just look at the colours and the pattern next to each other - no doubt about it - the 'Tribino' is going to rock!!! Dan Sutherland has a good chance of being the first to produce them this year - good luck TSK!

SPOG x POG Locks

This could be an interesting clutch as the male Super Pastel Orange Ghost (SPOG) has fader type marking and displays a strong yellow colour. If we are lucky enough to get a clutch, should be 50% SPOG and 50% POGs. Just can't wait - these are some of our favourite hatchlings and the one we get the most enquiries about! Drop us a line if you want to be added to the waiting list.

Tri-Stripe x Lemon Pastel Locks!

Our Lemon pastel female has regained full weight at close to 2500g so as the tailend of Hurricane Katia was passing at the same time that she shed, we introduced the pair. Woke up this morning to find them hard at it. The bright yellow Lemon Pastel flank colouration that the Dam has retained into maturity will be exceptional mixed in with the Tri-Stripe. Very excited about this lock, fingers crossed for a nice clutch :)

High Contrast Albino het Tri-Stripe Girl!!

High Contrast Albino het Tri-Stripe Girl!!

So, now we've had a chance to study the new hatchling and the pattern and colours of the sibling that didn't make it, we have some strange results. The patterns show het Tri-Stripe influence in the joined up aliens but the background colours are like Lavender Albino hatchlings - the first one has strong orange outlines to the blotches, with a stark glowing white background.

The surviving girl seems to have Lav type colours too but the background colour is already a strong pink/purple, with normal Albino colour eyes - most peculiar. The pinkish background colour contrasts with white silver markings low down on the flank.

We are definitely going to repeat this pairing next season to see what happens!

Tri-Stripe x Albino Visual Hatchling Surprise!

Tri-Stripe x Albino Visual Hatchling Surprise!

OK, so this one has got us a little baffled - in a nice way. We were expecting a normal looking hatchling from this pairing - perhaps with a few het Tri-Stripe markers...but no...

Really had to stop and stare when I saw this pinkish/purple Albino type head sticking out of the egg. The other remaining egg also hatched but the sibling died whilst still attached to the yolk which was largely unabsorbed. Hey ho, guess that's nature for you.

Whatever this plucky survivor is, it's het Tri-Stripe and suggests that the sire visual Tri-Stripe is het for Albino or something Albino compatible. Curiouser and curiouser...

Final Pastel Double Het Ultramel Glow Out of the Egg!

And what a corker! Not even the Super Pastel Orange Ghosts were this orange pre-shed! And these are lovely chunky 88g hatchlings - can't wait to see them shed and fed!

Their slightly less glamorous siblings are doing well, the first double het Ultramel Orange Ghost is out and resting, expect the other two this evening. All appear to be doing well with no complications. Mother and Father should be very proud indeed :)

Finally sexed the hatchlings and it appears we have 1.2 Pastel Double het Ultramel Orange Ghosts and 2.1 Double het Ultramel Orange Ghosts. We'll be keeping the Pastel double hets for sure but will be selling one or two of the double hets...

We are delighted with the result of sexing the double het Ultramel Tri-Stripes - 5 females!!! One of the best outcomes we could have hoped for! Got a couple of years to get a male - so, we can all guess what the Ultramel female will be up to with the male Tri-Stripe next season... ; )

All Double Het Ultramel Tri-Stripes Out of Eggs!

All Double Het Ultramel Tri-Stripes Out of Eggs!

All five are now out and resting in their own tubs - will sex them tomorrow. Patterns are great - Tri-Stripe influence bleeding through as joined up aliens and blotches with strong dorsal jet blacks. Ultramel bleeding through as increased oranges on the flanks. Can't wait to see them post shed with some meals inside them! Fingers crossed for a good ratio...

Tri-Stripe x Albino Clutch Laid!!!

Tri-Stripe x Albino Clutch Laid!!!

Very excited to find this beautiful VPI Albino female wrapped around her first clutch sired by my Tristripe male.

Six eggs in total, 530g and all candled healthy. Dam still has good weight and I suspect will start eating again shortly just like the other girls have. Fingers crossed once again for a great ratio from this clutch - a 0.6, 1.5 or 2.4 would suit us well!!!

And just when I thought I'd faint from the excitement, I noticed that the het Lavender Albino female has red belly and is clearly heading for shed. She is sooooo big - I am really curious to see what size clutch she will produce!!!

He was brave boy on this outing - she was 3.5 times his size but it looks like he has done the deed once again. What a star! Houten Snake Day Road Trip

Houten Snake Day Road Trip

Manic Brits abroad roadtrip accompanied by Dave from Cutting Edge Pythons - left for Houten at silly o'clock in the morning for about 4 hours at the show before a rapid retreat - all in the manner of key characters from 'Allo 'Allo.

Dropped off two Ultramels destined for France and Canada and picked up a glorious Pastel Butter Ghost. She wasn't the cheapest of the two females available in Europe this year but she was by far the brightest - I'm always happy to pay a little more for the highest quality genetics - especially on five year projects! She'll be paired up with my SPOG male as soon as she's ready before dabbling in some Pastel Enchi Butter Ghost projects in collaboration with Cutting Edge Pythons.

Met some real characters from the European breeding circuit and had a great time. Watching Dave (UK Enchi king) meet Lars (World Enchi king) was hilarious. He got all fidgety and kept coming back to his stand every five minutes to stare at the enchi combos.Brilliant!

Saw some great animals and some lovely Pit Vipers - not for me but real stunners!

'Timmy' the SPOG - Update

'Timmy' the SPOG - Update

Timmy, our SPOG that was born with slim chances of survival due to an infected yolk sack, has just broken the 1000g barrier and is officially bigger than all of his siblings!!!

This little fella is our family favourite, his spirit is irrepressible! A seriously hardy appetite and a keen sense of adventure. He really seems to seek out and enjoy contact with us. My wife is simply amazed at how big he has got :) Great work team Timmy!

His colours are awesome - bright yellows and great fading. He has a y shape at the back of his neck and similar looks to the Super Duper - as he is a Graziani pastel, it seems possible there maybe something else going on here. Either way, we're extremely grateful he's still with us!

To show our appreciation, I have put a deposit down for a Pastel Butter Ghost girlfriend for him which I'll collect at Houten : )

New Snakeroom Completed!

New Snakeroom Completed!

The new Snakeroom is finished and is everything I wanted it to be. My own freezer (wife is happy!), sink (better than the one in the kitchen - major sink envy ensued) and a small office tucked into the corner.

The room is heated primarily by waste heat from the boiler, backed up by thermostatically controlled underfloor heating. The room is double insulated and has an extractor fan that turns on when the room gets too warm.

I think we're all going to be very happy in here! The old room is also looking great as it's been redesigned to house a single highly demanding hatchling - our baby daughter due next month!

John from ProRacks delivered and set up the incubator, 5 litre RUB rack, 33 litre RUB rack and 30" double tub rack. It's all state of the art Aluminium and even the big double rack is easily moved by one person.

Thermal characteristics have tested well - all animals are now rehoused and the vivs are up for sale. Feeding responses are excellent - ambient and mat temperatures spot on. Hopefully this will all pay dividends and we'll have a highly productive season! Bring on the double recessive project holdbacks to fill these racks!

Loving the Lavender Albino projects so much that I have added another adult pair of hets - the female is a 2400g beauty and if she doesn't go this year (from het Lav x Het Lav pairing) she will be paired with my VPI line Lavender Albino male next season. Aye caramba! What a Xmas present!!! Imported a perfect 2009 Tri-Stripe male and 2008 het female from The Snake Keeper just in time for the holidays. Man, these things are amazing. I have wanted one since I first saw pictures as an unproven morph. In my opinion, there's not a pattern morph that comes close! Lavender Albino 66% het Axanthic!

Just imported a stunning pair of Lavender Albino 66% het for Lavender Snow from David and Tracy at VPI. They are sensational - we could stare at them all day as the colours are indescribable and shift according to lighting. Both fed in the first week, the male has an enormous appetite! Both very calm, curious and somehow appear especially intelligent... Male is VPI Lavender Albino descendant and Female is from Ralph Davis lines. Both are stunners - I know exactly what I want to breed these into but am going to have to be patient...

'Timmy' the Super Pastel Orange Ghost

'Timmy' the Super Pastel Orange Ghost

Our holdback SPOG had an infected yolk sac and a respiratory infection. Not a good outlook for a 16g Royal Python... Luckily, our vet that was able to operate using a surgical microscope with a 60% chance of survival followed by 6 tense weeks on nursing duty - antibiotic injections every three days, wound sterilisation and tube feeding everyday. With a scar that somehow seemed even bigger than his body, things were looking pretty serious.

As he was facing mortal danger, we decided to give him a name - Timmy.

Finally, he accepted two assist fed mouse pinks and thence to strike feeding with gusto, although as you can see he likes to be wrapped around my finger when he eats! I guess it makes him feel secure. Six weeks of frequent contact seems to have built a close relationship and we can not wait to see this boy grow up. We had a party when he made 20g!!!

This is the smallest Royal Python I have ever heard of surviving. His colours, which turned a dark grey through his illnesses have returned slowly and his breathing is much better. More updates when he gets his full colour back. Well done Team Timmy!!!

Pastel Green Ghost x Pastel Orange Ghost Clutch Hatched!

Awesome results! Out of the five Pastel Orange Ghost x Pastel Green Ghost eggs, four hatched - two Super Pastel Orange Ghosts and two Pastel Orange Ghosts. The colours are incredible, bright oranges with light purples in the blushing. Definitely holding back one of the SPOGs, not seen one like this before. Checked with Corey Woods and he hasn't either - he's special, hatched on our Wedding day :) It could be due to mixing the NERD line Ghost with the wild caught Corey Woods Green Ghost or it could be a Graziani fader gene - who knows? Time (and patience) will tell!
